I have regular review sessions with parents and aim to work collaboratively with you.

I also offer parent sessions to support parents and carers.

Confidentiality

The content of sessions is private and your  child or young person may not wish to share the content of the sessions with you.  It is important to respect this as counselling sessions are a safe space to explore feelings.

However, if I have a serious concern about your child or young person I will follow the BACP ethical guidelines to get them appropriate help and support.

How It Works

â€‹When you contact me I will schedule an initial phone call.  This is free of charge and lasts around 15-20 minutes.  It is a chance for you to tell me what you are looking for and for me to see if I can offer what you need.  It also gives us an opportunity to get to know each other a little so that we have an idea if I am the right person to work with your child.

After this phone call, if you would like to go ahead, we can then schedule an intake session either online or face to face.  This session takes place without your child. Ideally and if possible, both parents attend.  This is a further opportunity for us to get to know each other.  During this intake session I will take a full history to find out about you, your family and your child.  This intake session cost £65 and lasts around one hour.  Sometimes, when there is a lot of information to share, I may suggest a second intake session at £60.

If you would like to go ahead with counselling for your child we will then schedule their first session.  The sessions are face-to-face and take place in a comfortable well-furnished room.  This is a chance for your child to experience a counselling session and get to know me.  During this session I will explain what counselling is (and isn't!) and we will think about how we will work together and how I can help your child feel safe and supported.

After this session I will be in touch to see how it went and if your child would like to continue.  We will also discuss how many sessions may be appropriate and agree how often we have a review.  â€‹Counselling sessions usually take place weekly at the same time and cost £60 per 50 minute session.

It is very important that counselling sessions have a well-managed ending and so I ask that parents give me four weeks' notice if they would like their child to stop therapy.
